FOUR DAYS: Super Modified 3 Bimmer Battle

Big engines, rear-wheel drive, sequential gearboxes...welcome to Super Modified 3, where the theme of having difficulty to predict a group winner continues. Justin Campbell is the first name out of the hat. Having won in 2016 and 2017, it would be unwise to discredit Justin Campbell's chances of a hat-trick. His BMW M3 hasn't seen any action for the year, so Flow King of The Hill will permit him to get back into the swing of things before Sol Rally Barbados. With the mechanical gremlins banished (knock on wood) the Watson brothers will be looking to make their claim for group honours. Rhett's BMW M3 looked to be in good nick in the Carter's Pit Stop Stages. Having won the group in 2015 he's well aware of that it takes to at the top come June 3rd. Logan Watson is in with a shout as well. Taking second place in the Carter's Pit Stop Stages, Logan has the pace to be up with the front runners.

Consistency is key to achieving a good result, and David St.Hill can attest to this. Second in 2016 and third in 2017, can he keep his M3 in the reckoning this year? Andrew Jones is sure to take a fight to the BMWs in his Ford Escort MkII. Having placed second last year after coming up from Super Modified 2, he cannot be underestimated. His Escort is rather quick, and "Jonesy" is more than capable. Turks & Caicos' Stan Hartling gets better with each local event he completes. Fifth place last year in this hotly contested group was a result to be proud of, and he'll no doubt be looking for more. Crowd favourite and "adopted"Barbadian Martin Stockdale brings his Jaguar-powered BMW 1M Coupe back to our shores. Having taken third in 2016 and fourth in 2017, can we see the Englishman higher up after the final stage on June 3rd?

You didn't think there'd be a group of nine rear-wheel drive cars and there'd be no entertainment, did you? Shame on you. "Beef and potato" was the catch phrase for Sol Rally Barbados, thanks in no small part to Shon Cummins making his Sol Rally Barbados debut. Making the brave (and eye opening) transition from spectator to participant, he had the crowd buzzing when he was due on the stages. He didn't have the smoothest of rallies, but when he did get his BMW 316 sideways, the crowds cheered in approval. With a bigger engine and other upgrades done to the car, we can't wait to see what "Flickster" will cook up. Mark Kinch served up "all beef" for the crowds until mechanical problems ended his rally in 2017. Cookin' with the sauce, Chef Kinch had his M3 sideways at every opportunity, sending spectators into a frenzy. While the quantity of sideways entertainers might be down, Mark makes up for that deficiency with his quality.
Bon Appetit..
