Some say that before his wrecked Honda Civic came to a stand still on the Luke Hill Stage, Daryl Clarke already had plans for the 2017 Championship Season. The 2016 BRC Drivers Champion has been burning the midnight oil to complete his Honda Civic build in time for the Shakedown Stages and we caught up with him over the weekend.

"We are just waiting on one major part which should be arriving on Tuesday April 18th, tomorrow I will be sending the car to the garage for some final touches and then the push is on to get the car completed in time for the Shakedown Stages Rally"

After wrecking his championship winning car on the event that would ironically secure his championship win, Clarke lamented that sourcing a well kept e.g civic was not a easy task as it is quite rare to find them without a sunroof or in a clean condition. After some searching Clarke had been able to locate a clean e.g civic in the United Kingdom which shortly after he had stripped and ready for roll cage installment.

"Every bracket that wasn't needed was removed as well as all plastic and sound paneling"

"As soon as the car was cleared from the port we got to work removing any other materials not required. We decided to go with floor mount pedals to make adjustments easy as well as to keep the weight lower, the seat was moved as far back as possible which meant the steering position had to be lengthened. At that point we were just trying to place everything where it needed to be and see how it felt along the way"

Following our visit to Clarke's garage it is safe to say that he will once again be a force to reckon with once everything has been tuned and he is comfortable again.
